Ruth joined ACOP in 2011. Before that, she sold her craft at markets at Narrabeen and St Ives.

Ruth started crafting at a young age. Her father taught her how to knit - he was a surgeon who knew purl and plain but nothing fancy in knitting. He also painted in oils for relaxation. Ruth now knits booties and cardigans, jumpers, ponchos and shawls for little folk. She knits for both boys and girls.

Ruth has learned her folk art from Lorraine Wingfield for many years, and paints such items for the home as stools, boxes, cradles, trays, pen holders, lazy susans - anything wooden.

She has joined the Folk Art Association and has exhibited her folk art at Darling Harbour and Glebe Island.

Ruth learned to sew at school on a treadle sewing machine. Some weeks she spent many hours sewing beautiful dresses for little girls. Her traditional and pretty dresses are very popular with our customers. She has customers who bring materials for special outfits.
