Jos came from a family of Jewellers - so creativity is in her DNA.  Consequently, Jos has been a creative woman all her life – including, at times, making a lot of her own clothes.

In ACOP, Jos exhibits and sells vibrant glass plates and bowls - she used to be a potter, but now works with glass because she loves the bright colours.  She has been working with glass for about 3 or 4 years.

She started her creative journey at high school, where she did "a bit of pottery and woodwork".

After high school, for about ten years, she worked in Sydney, including being an "in-house printer" with Pergamon Press.

Then she went to England and married a Scot - had two kids - and did a lot of sailing – they used to sail to France for the weekend - sail on a Friday night and wake in LeHavre on Saturday morning to croissants for breakfast.

While she was in England she also studied computing (in the era of DOS) in the very beginning of the computer era – and later went to TAFE where she did more computing.

In England - she also did a lot of knitting and spinning - the oiled wool from fleeces knitted into thick jumpers, kept them warm during sailing.

At Richmond Adult College, she did some pottery as a hobby - but as fast as she made things, they were broken by husband and kids.

After 20 years in the UK, she returned to Sydney with her family.  She went to the Tramshed and did the Pottery Course and Colour and Design course with Chris Guthleben.

Then she did a three year associate diploma course in Ceramics at Brookvale TAFE.

Then she worked as a potter for 5 years.  She also went back to Brookvale TAFE and did a one year course in how to use an Apple computer.

The next year she did a one year course in Design at Brookvale TAFE.

Changes in life circumstances forced her to give up pottery - but she kept up her creative activity with tapestry, cross stitch, sewing and knitting.

Then she heard about glass crafts, and started going to Roseville Community College. She is still going to Roseville Community College - and using their kilns.  She has also attended the Sydney Community College at Roselle to continue her training.  At times she has worked with beads, where her sense of colour brings delight to her work

Jos has been a member of ACOP for many years - originally selling her pottery - now her table of glass brightens our exhibitions.
