Peter has had a love of wood from an early childhood spent roaming Mallee forests in South Australia.
Encouragement from both Primary and Secondary teachers lead to a continuing fascination with the uniqueness of timber, its texture and colours, unique grains and as a medium for expression of design through fine furniture crafting and using these combined characteristics to sculpt unique forms that give full expression to the heart and beauty that each piece of wood holds.
A period of living and owning property in the Gloucester region provided the opportunity to salvage some of Australia's finest timbers.
Ongoing education and training with some of Australia's foremost furniture makers and sculptors such as Neil Scobie and John Vanderkolk combined with an unfailing passion for working with wood has resulted in his making individual pieces of furniture on commission and a solo exhibition of his work which included several carved and sculptured pieces.
Having now retired from a full time career in the health industry Peter has been able to dedicate more time to his love of the art and craft of working with wood.
Based in Church Point on Sydney's Northern Beaches adjoining the wondrous Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park; he has established a workshop at his home where he continues to pursue his passion for wood using exclusively Australian timbers such as Red Cedar, Huon Pine, Rosewood, Blue Gum, Silky Oak and a variety of salvaged timbers.
