Barbara McBurnie's Art

Surf boat Manly Freshwater

The late Barbara McBurnie brought her own style of excitement and vitality to her art. Her love of the Australian outdoors was reflected in the subjects she painted - beaches, landscapes, native plants, birds, boating, abstracts and more recently oil painting of the Outback.

Barbara began her artistic career as a potter, completing ceramic courses at Brookvale TAFE. The excitement of underglaze colours painted on clay was her motivation to study watercolour painting.

In her later years, Barbara painted in oils, acrylic and watercolour, using the medium which best suited and reflected the mood of her painting.

Barbara gave thanks to her teachers Val Kemsley, Paul Warner, Frederick Bates, Mollie Flaxman, Alvaro Castagnet, Helen Goldsmith, David Taylor, Ross Patterson, Rex Newell, Ev Hales & Joseph Zbukvic.

Barbara was a member of the following societies:
• North Shore
• Mosman
• Artists & Craftsmen of Pittwater
• Pittwater Community of Arts
• Great Lakes
